Dozens of graduates of Beis Midrash Gavoha in Lakewood stood on Friday and watched tearfully as the tractor crane destroyed with one stroke Beis Eliyahu – the old Beis Midrash of Lakewood.
The Beis Midrash of Beis Eliahu, where the voice of Torah did not cease by day and night, was made of several caravans joined together to one big hall, which contained hundreds of Talmidim and Avreichim, for decades.
On Friday, the demolition work began, and a big and luxurious Beis Midrash will be built instead.
In the winter Zman, the boys will learn in alternative Batei Midrash in the area of the Yeshiva.
