Another case of self harm at the shawl cult community: This morning (Saturday), around 8:00, a woman was giving birth at her home in Bnei Brak. But the woman, a cult member, refused to be evacuated to hospital from fear of desecration of Shabbos.
It all began when a man came to the synagogue on Avraham Ben David Street in Bnei Barak, and asked for a paramedic. David Steinter, a Hatzalah medic praying in the synagogue, came right out.
The latter said that his wife was giving birth and needed medical assistance. The medic immediately asked for an ambulance, but the husband insisted that he does not order, because his wife does not want an ambulance to desecrate Shabbos for her.
They came to the woman, but the woman continued to insist that she does not want under any circumstances that an ambulance be called for her.
David, with another medic had to deliver the woman by themselves, and a new baby was born in the city.
Following the birth rescue personnel tried to persuade the woman to call an ambulance, but to no avail.
David called his mother, who serves as a midwife at the Maaynei Hayeshua hospital, who conducted necessary tests for the mother and baby and cared for them.
There was another child aged two to three in the house..
As it turned out, the mother, 31, a resident of Yavniel, arrived in Bnei Brak on Thursday for a family event. The family remained in the city until after Shabbos.
Rabbis of Bnei Brak upon hearing the case expressed shock at the incident, and said that this behavior is explicitly against the laws required on Shabbos in the case of Pikuach Nefesh
