Brosh's Rabbi admitted to have stolen the sifrei Toarh-released

The court ordered the Beer Sheva Magistrate today (Wednesday) to release to house arrest in Jerusalem, the Brosh Rabbi, after he was arrested yesterday on suspicion of stealing seven Torah scrolls. Discussion shows that the rabbi has collaborated in the investigation, he confessed, gave the names of people who received the Torah scrolls and promised to compensate people damaged by his actions.

In request to extend his detention police sought to extend his detention by an extra 8 days, cite obstruction concerns of justice, escaping from the law of the Rabbi and dangerous to the public if released.

Police representative revealed hearing that the Rabbi cooperated in the investigation and told the sequence of actions in which he is suspected, disclosed the names of the people who received parts of parchment, but refused to say whether he told which amounts he received for them.

Rafi Litan - lawyer representing the rabbi said in response to the police request to extend the detention: "The one who revealed the affair to the police was no other than the respondent (R. - YA) who confessed everything attributed to him, describing the events, which people who received and those people he intended to compensate for the damage caused.

"To come and claim disruption, dangerous or escape is of course, not accurate and has no base."

Judge Gad Gideon wrote that since the Rabbi collaborated with the investigation gave the names of people he sold the scrolls to and cooperated; he gets the alternative detention and orders his release under house arrest at his mother in Jerusalem. He forbade the Rabbi to come to the settlement, contact anyone involved, and ordered him on house arrest with no means of communication.

In addition, he was forbidden to receive visitors at home, except for his wife and children.

The police have delayed in making a decision. As a result, the release was postponed until tomorrow at 12:00 noon. Police will announce at 16:00 if they intend to file an appeal to the District Court against the decision of the judge. If it is decided not to appeal, the Rabbi will be released.

Recalling, during the Hakafos at the shul on Motzei Simchas Torah, one of the members found cardboard paper filled into the Sefer Torah instead of parchment. Residents filed a complaint against the Rabbi who later admitted to have carried out the crime. Residents gather the Rabbi may have fallen into debt and therefore sold the parchments.

Update: Police decided to appeal against the decision to release the Rabbi Rosilin. The next hearing will take place tomorrow where it will be decided whether to extend the detention or release him to house arrest.
