In the hall of Moscow's central synagogue, a seuda was held in honor of the tzaddik Reb Chaim Zanvil son of Avrahamovitz zy"a – who was known to all as 'The tzaddik of Rivnitz'.
The mythological shamash of the central synagogue in Moscow – "Marina Roscha" organized the event – R' Zvi Hirsh Gershoi who was close to the tzaddik until the age of 18 when the tzaddik left Moldavia.
R' Zvi Hirsh was his grandfathers right hand, served as the tzaddik's gabbai for many years and even spent time with him in the ghetto during the holocaust.
During the yarzeit seuda the shamash told of many stories he witnessed, beginning as a small child and later when he was a grown boy, wonders and miracles over the years, as well as the city and surrounding nations gaining respect and fear for the renowned tzaddik.
R' Zvi-Hirsh went through different and many upheavals during his life, and served as deputy minister of culture in Moldavia for a long time. He speaks nine languages and is one of Russia's greatest chess players.
Over a decade ago, he returned to his real life purpose and was appointed shamash in the central synagogue in Moscow, headed by the Chief Rabbi of Russia Hagaon Reb Lazar – which he fulfills faithfully and utilizes his many talents for the benefit of others and the pleasure of the masses praying and studying at the main synagogue in Moscow.
