Ofakim police authorities arrested the Brosh Rabbi this evening (Tuesday) on suspicion of stealing the Torah parchments.
The Rabbi was called for an investigation at 19:30, during which the Rabbi was arrested, after cooperating with his investigators. The Rabbi's arrest will be lengthened tomorrow.
It was reported this afternoon that the Brosh residents claimed that the Rabbi stood behind the act, since only he has the keys to the Shul and Aron Hakodesh. They filed a complaint at the police station, which was followed by the Rabbis arrest.
During the Hakafos at the shul one of the members found cardboard paper filled into the Sefer Torah instead of parchment.
Later on it was found that the same thing had been done with all the other Sifrei Torah.
A resident told B'Chadrei Charedim: "The Rabbi at our settlement admitted to the deed. He must have fallen into debt but he regretted what he had done and promised to return the money."
Due to the claims the Rabbi was investigated and arrested. His wife spoke earlier to B'Chadrei Charedim: "Members of the settlement probably like to add fuel to the fire", and hurried to complete the conversation.
