Drama during the onset of the second Hakafos in the shul of the southern Brosh settlement. One of the shul members who lifted the Sefer Torah, felt something was wrong and the Sefer Torah too light.
When he opened the Sefer Torah, he was shocked to find that instead of parchment, an investment of tens of thousands of shekels, cardboard paper was placed instead.
The shul members were stunned and later found that all five of their Sifrei Torah was replaced with cardboard paper.
It is estimated the Sifrei Toarh total to a sum of up to half a million shekels.
Ofakim police authorities opened an investigation during which the Rabbi of the shul was questioned.
A Brosh resident told B'Chadrei Charedim: "One of the shul members who lifted the Sefer Torah thought it was too light. Another member also said that a few days ago a man was revealed to him in a dream saying that his feet were amputated and is waiting to be saved. He never understood the dream until yesterday."
According to her, "The Rabbi of Brosh confessed. Apparently he found himself in debt and regretted it, as he declared he would return the money."
The Rabbi's wife told B'Chadrei Charedim, "It seems like some people like to add fuel to the fire. There are no comments at this point."
Brosh is a settlement in the North-Western part of the southern region, south-east to Netivot and North-West to Ofakim. The population at the settlement is mostly secular-traditional. The Rabbi lives in Netivot and comes to stay at the settlement during Shabbos and Holidays.
