A bus hit a stroller this evening (Monday) with a toddler in it, but miraculously the toddler's life was saved.
A bus hit a stroller with a toddler in it on the corner of Malchei Yisrael Street and Brandis Street in Jerusalem, and continued driving whilst dragging the stroller hundreds of meters along the road.
Only when reaching Sarei Yisrael Street situated 200 meters away, did the bus stop.
Members of Hatzalah and Mada provided primary care for the toddler and she was taken to hospital. Her situation was defined as "slightly wounded".
Nachman, an eye witness told B'Chadrei Charedim, "The bus hit the stroller on Malchei Yisrael Street corner of Brandis Street. The stroller latched onto the bus whilst continuing to drive despite the mothers and passerby's shouting to the driver to stop. The driver did not stop either after passengers shouted to him to stop".
A brave motor cyclist who saw the impending disaster bypassed the bus and stopped in front of him to stop him from continuing to drive. Only then did the paramedics approach the stroller fearing of what they would see. The toddler was fully conscious and was only slightly wounded.
Menny Zlikowitz a paramedic at Hatzalah said, "A double jointed bus dragged the stroller tens of meters. The toddler who was tied to the stroller was miraculously saved and did not fall from it and was only very slightly wounded. Had she not been tied to the stroller the incident would have ended very differently".
Dozens of people gathered round and demanded of the police to summon a traffic examiner before the bus continues driving; however the police ignored their request.
