• Millions of Jews worldwide today completed the fast of Yom Kippur in prayer and fasting - the holiest day of the Jewish people. The day passed without outstanding incidents.
• MDA teams provided medical care to 2,334 people - of which 1464 people were evacuated to the hospital. Among them, 108 fainting cases due to the fast, nine people needed resuscitation. 120 young and old patients, who alerted the MDA service were treated due to life-threatening conditions such as: seizures, unconsciousness, heart angina and shortness of breath.
• 264 children and youths were injured and needed first aid as a result of injury during cycling. In one of the incidents, two cyclists were lightly injured after a head-on collision at the entrance to the Vardia neighborhood in Haifa.
• In 13 accidents which occurred - 18 people were injured, including two pedestrians, five of the casualties in a medium condition.
• 145 expecting women were evacuated to hospitals. Meanwhile, five of them were delivered by MDA personnel.
• This year there were three incidents of stone throwing at ambulances and disorder to ambulances by youth and children (not by haredim).
• During the evening hours a seven year old boy was bitten by a dog on Tchernichovsky street in Kiryat Ata was lightly injured .
• A man of 32 was lightly injured in his face, after being stoned in his transport car on Derech Tzarfat in Haifa.
• During Yom Kippur about 15 people were treated in the emergency room of the hospital in Nahariya, some of them children injured by falls from bicycles and roller- blades. There were 16 births in the hospital, eight boys and 8 girls.
• In the central Golan Heights a rocket fired from Syria fell in the afternoon, during fighting between the Syrian army and rebels. There were no casualties. Yesterday a few mortar shells fired from Syria fell in the Golan Heights. In this incident too there were no injuries.
• U.S. President Barack Obama called in his speech before the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Tuesday, for putting an end to intolerance and violence that led to the death of U.S. Ambassador to Libya. Obama also warned Iran that he would do everything possible to prevent Tehran getting nuclear weapons, but to the disappointment of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, he did not declare a "red line" in the battle against the Iranian nuclear program.
• Four people were killed today (Wednesday) in Syria in an explosion of two car bombs in the command center of the Syrian army in the capital Damascus. According to Syrian television reports, the four dead were military guards. 14 other people were injured, among them military personnel and civilians. The explosions occurred at around 7 am and ten minutes apart from each other.
