The hareidi battalion of the Kfir division – Netzach Yehudah, recently won the excellence prize of the Judea and Samaria division.
At a ceremony which took place in Ariel, the commander of the division, Brigadier-general Chagai Mordechai, gave the prize to the battalion in light of the many successes which it has achieved over the last few years.
According to a report in the IDF's site, the battalion is responsible, among others, for 60% of capturing terror moneys in Judea and Samaria over the last year, and of keeping especially low percentages of terror in its sector, the Menashe district.
"Our activity is measured first and foremost by the minimum terror attacks in our sector – almost zero attacks, in which stoning is also counted," related the commander of the Netzach Yehuda battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Amichai Segal, to the IDF site. "The constant and continuous graphs of the fall in incidents stem from a stubborn and hard work against terror and include perseverance and attack".
According to him, winning the prize has caused a lot of pride in the battalion. "The actual saying that on the level of a division they see you as excellent, really warms the heart," said the Netzach Yehudah commander.
And there is reason to be proud: Over the last weeks, the battalion arrested a senior member of the Islamic Jihad; it holds on to the annual record of catching terror moneys in all the sectors of Judea and Samaria which stands on 60%, and succeeds in 80% of the campaigns to catch the wanted person with a minimum of escapes. "We've turned into a very large information center in the area, and our dialogue with the commanders and intelligence factors is very good, which brings to simple and effective planning of missions".
The battalion is now a candidate for the first time, for the Chief of Staff's prize for an outstanding unit, and the prize of head of Technology and Logistics Department.
The last cycle there was a rise of 33% in recruiting to the battalion. The success of the framework of a hareidi battalion which manages to form an effective and fruitful fighting force alongside a religious and halachic framework for its soldiers which is kept meticulously, caused the fact that "Meitav" recently asked to get the battalion's program for a possible application in the future in other frameworks of the IDF.
