Eastern Jerusalem residents arrested as suspects of holding weapons

It was released to the press, that at the beginning of August, detectives and investigators of the David district arrested for investigation a few Arab men, residents of East Jerusalem, as well as illegal immigrants who are suspected of possessing weapons and arms, as well as a pipe charge.

Two were detained until the end of procedures, and at the end of last week an indictment was submitted against them.

On the 20th of Av, 5772 (about a year ago) as a result of intelligence information, the detectives and investigators of the David district raided a residential building on Sultan Sulliman street in East Jerusalem, and in a storeroom of the building which serves as the suspects' vegetable shop, two demolition charges, a Scorpio machine gun, a hand grenade, guns of different sorts, a silencer, revolver bullet and iron gun bullet cartridges, photographs of Shahids, berets of the Border Guard, Kaffia's, flags of the Chamas and more than 250,000 NIS. The investigation was transferred to the minorities' department in the central unit and the General Security Service.

At the end of the investigation, 2 brothers who are suspected of holding weapons were arrested until the end of procedures, and at the end of last week an indictment was submitted against them for possessing and carrying arms.

The police and General Security Service continue to investigate for whom and for which purpose the arms, the charges and weapons which were found in the storeroom were meant.
