On Monday afternoon, a harsh road accident occurred in Gush Etzion, Shira Abramson, 60 years old, resident of Tkoa was killed, and another casualty was evacuated in a severe condition to the Hadassah Ein Karem hospital in Jerusalem.
The head-on collision between four vehicles occurred a little after 16:00pm, between Tkoa and Herodion, in the east of Gush Etzion. MDA and Hatzala teams who arrived on the scene performed resuscitation on the fatal casualty, but a doctor was forced to determine her death. Five Palestinians who were slightly injured were evacuated by Red Cross ambulances to hospitals within the Palestinian Authority.
Zevi Sofer, Ichud Hatzala paramedic, related: "This was a head-on collision between a Palestinian and an Israeli car; I and other paramedics of Ichud Hatzala treated the casualty whose condition is defined as medium, and most unfortunately the driver was killed spontaneously. In addition we treated 4 Palestinians who were slightly injured. A military doctor determined the driver's death, the background for the harsh accident is unclear".
Dr. Abramson served as a doctor at the Sha'arei Tzedek hospital in Jerusalem, she escorted her husband on his last way two years ago, after he suffered of a heart attack at the age of 50. She was buried at 23:30 at Tkoa.
The deceased's daughter, who is studying at the Migdal Ohr institutions in Migdal Ha'emek, received the news in a harsh way from the manager of institutions, Harav Chaim Biton, and the educator, Duri Swamenfeld, in the presence of a social worker.
Yisrael Yart, who is the helper of Harav Grossman, head of the institutions, told Behadrey Haredim that close to 15:30pm, a half hour before the accident occurred, Abramson's neighbor, who came to meet her own daughter, visited the institution.
Abramson's 16 year old daughter who met her, said that she gave her a letter to hand to her mother, and added 7 shekels in order for the neighbor to buy chocolate at the Central Bus Station in Jerusalem, and give it together with the letter to her mother. But the mother will no longer be able to read the letter …
"I am broken to pieces," said Yart in pain. "Today it came out of control. I have passed many traumatic events in my life, I have seen many harsh and terrible scenes with my eyes. But to sit in front of a 16 year old girl, whose father died of a heart attack in her hands, and now her mother was killed in a car accident, and all she is shouting is "Father, why?!" I have nothing to answer her, besides shedding a tear and asking, "Father, why?" ".
