On Motzaei Shabbos, after 2:00am, the "Red Light" alarm was sounded in the southern zone, after the firing of Grad rockets was identified in the direction of the cities of Beer Sheva and Netivot.
One of the Grad rockets hit a building in Netivot directly, and caused great damage. 13 casualties were evacuated during the night to the Soroka hospital in Beer Sheva, part of them due to anxiety and part suffering of slight injuries, mainly due to falling during the running to sheltered areas.
Another Grad rocket was sent towards the city of Beer Sheva, the Negev district police reported that until now the place of falling has not been located.
During the morning hours on Sunday, an additional rocket exploded in an open area in the Ashkelon Beach district.
Zvi Shevach, an Ichud Hatzala - South paramedic, who was on the scene in Netivot, relates: "When we arrived on the scene, we noticed that the tile roof of the building spilled onto the road, great damage was done to the building. We started searching for casualties or anyone who might have been trapped, but most miraculously the members of the home did not stay in the room which the rocket hit at that time, and there were no casualties. No doubt this is a miracle".
In a consultation which was held in the late hours of the night it was decided that children in the cities of Beer Sheva and Ashdod will stay home this morning, and not go to their places of schooling. But the announcement was published in Ashdod only close to the starting hour of school.
The mayor of Netivot, Yechiel Zohar arrived earlier on at the scene of the Grad rocket's falling and said, "The security system must once again consider the location of the "Iron Cap" system. This is not the first time that fire has been aimed at Netivot, and unfortunately there were direct hits on a home. To my joy, there are no casualties, but this is a matter of luck, and it could have hit a home with a whole family. One must put an end to this. "Iron Cap" must come back here, over the last few weeks they have been firing at us non-stop".
Since the beginning of 2012, 455 rockets have hit Israel. 10 rockets hit Israel since the beginning of September.
