Canada severed relations with Teheran. "Threat to world security"

Canadian Foreign Minister, John Bird, announced that Canada has suspended its diplomatic relations with Iran and removed Iranian diplomats from its territory. In a declaration released to the media in Russia during an economic conference of the Asian-Pacific countries, Bird said that his government is officially declaring Iran as a terrorist supporting state.

"Iran is one of the worst counties in violating human rights. It protects and fosters terrorist groups," said the minister.

He further added that Canada will close its embassy in Iran immediately, and announce that all the Iranian diplomats on Canadian soil as "persona non gratia" (unwanted personalities). The Iranian diplomats were requested to leave Canadian territory within five days, and Canadian diplomats in Iran have already left.

"The Canadian stand point towards Iran is well known," he said. "Canada sees in the Iranian government a real threat to world peace and security today," the minister added.

Iranian Foreign Ministry's spokesman, Ramin Mahmnafrast, responded to the words and said that "this is a decision of a radical government which is influenced by the Zionistic regime". Mahmnfrast mentioned that it is "an expression of the radical foreign policy of Canada".

In addition, in response to the move, Iran announced tonight closing its embassy in Ottawa because of Canada's "hostile decision". "We will not be able to give service to our dear members of nation" an announcement in Persian, which was published tonight in the embassy's site, said.
