Released for publication: Syrian spy from North captured
65 year old Iad Jamid Asad Juri, resident of Majdel Shames, was captured and admitted in his investigation that he has been in contact with activists from the Syrian intelligence, transferred information to them regarding a variety of issues as well as an Israeli communication device.

On Monday it was released to the press that a resident of Majdel Shamas was arrested at the end of June as suspect of forming contact with Syrian intelligence factors and transferred to them – among others – information regarding the IDF forces in the Golan Heights.
In a joint effort of the General Security Service and the General Command of the north of Israel, a resident of Majdel Shamas, Iad Jamil Asad Juri, 65 years old, was arrested as suspect of making contact with Syrian intelligence forces. Iad completed his medical studies in Syria and lived there at the time.
In his investigation, Iad admitted that during the years of 2005-2008 he was in touch with factors in the Syrian intelligence, and held activity meetings with them during his stay in Syria.
The suspect was instructed to collect intelligence material which is connected to the IDF's proceedings in the Golan Heights, the IDF army bases, their locations and size, military exercises, concentration and movements of IDF forces, information regarding the system fence, observations and positions.
In addition, he gave over to his activists an Israeli communication device.
An indictment was handed in against the suspect, in which there are charges of connection with a foreign agent and transferring information to an enemy.
