The European wave against Bris Milah continues to accelerate.

The governor of the district of Vorarlberg in Austria instructed hospitals to cease performing Bris Milah, not because of medical reasons, until the judicial situation in the country will be clarified.

The governor, Marcus Welner, explained that he based his instruction on the ruling of the court in Köln, Germany, which ruled in an unprecedented ruling that Milah is forbidden because of the harm to the baby's body.

"This is a precedent ruling" says Welner, "Which we also have to take into consideration".

As a result, hospitals in the district have announced that they will cease performing Bris Milah on babies until the clarification of the judicial issue.

The Jewish community in the country is concentrated mainly in the capital city Vienne, and its heads have expressed their concern regarding the spread of the ban throughout the country.
