A driver, citizen of Ashdod, who took a hareidi hitchhiker from the Ashkelon intersection to Yad Mordechai, cursed him on the way, and continued to do so despite the repetitive requests from the passenger that he should stop. In court, the driver was accused of harassment and was sentenced for 80 hours of service works for the public, and a fine of 2.000 shekels.

Attorney Dafna Zak, who represented the driver, mentioned during the claims for accusation that this is a case whose facts are not under dispute, and this is concerning "talking which caused another person to feel not at ease".

The attorney asked of the magistrate's court in Ashkelon – which dealt with the claim, not to find the accused guilty, despite his past with severe transgressions of a similar kind. She reasoned her request with the claim that not convicting him would bring the court's view as appreciative of the accused's advancement and deeds, in order to prevent of him and others more severe harm.

The attorney also mentioned that the accused asked to compensate the hitchhiker with 2,000 shekels.

Judge Chaim Nachmias did not find a reason to cancel the accusation for criminal proceedings, but raised his will to monetarily compensate the plaintiff, to the merit of the accused. The judge made do with a minimal compensation of 2m000 shekels, and in addition obliged the driver to perform 80 hours of work for the public at the geriatric hospital Zalon in Jaffa – as a service man.
