Boycott and letter of Chizuk. Quiet nights in Beis Yisroel

A week after the Behadrei Hareidim exposure regarding the decision of the Beis Din seating of the Eda Hareidis in cooperation with the Kashrus of Hagr"a Rubin and Yeshivas Mir to generally enforce the closing of restaurants and shops in the Beis Yisroel neighborhood at 23:00 – the instruction is getting substantial chizuk from the Rosh Yeshiva of the largest Yeshiva in the world.

Last week, the owners of shops and restaurants received the new instruction which came into force on Sunday. "Whoever will not abide by the instruction – will be forced to part with his Kashrus," they were told.

In a letter which the Rosh Yeshiva Hagra"y Finkel wrote regarding the issue to the Yeshiva bochurim, he mentioned the importance of closing the shops and the adherence of the bochurim to this issue which forms "a great disturbance to Yegias Hatorah and Aliya in Torah and Yiras Shomayim, and the format of the Yeshiva in general, and even more so the entry into these shops during the Sdarim of the Yeshiva causes a great weakness".

The Rosh Yeshiva also mentioned in his letter the importance which his father, Hagrn"z Finkel zt"l, saw in closing these shops.

"Since it was fixed that the shops will not be open after 11 o'clock at night, one should not enter and buy at all, during all hours of the day, in shops selling food which are open after 11pm (including Friday) just as in shops which sell foodstuffs etc. which have no Kashrus certificate at all during all hours of the day (even buying things which have a hechsher)".

In his letter, Hagra"y also related to stalls which are spread around the area of the Yeshiva: "Regarding the stalls selling food and other things around the holy Yeshiva (also those who have a hechsher), one should not buy in them and not stand next to them at all, they are beneath the dignity of a Ben Torah, and their obstacles are many", in his words.
