A year and a half has passed since the Egyptian president, Hosni Mobarak was dismissed by the mobs. A week ago, millions of Egyptians walked to the ballots in order to elect the next president, while the battle is held between t he two candidates who represent the two central parties in the country: Mohammed Morsi, the candidate of the Moslem Brothers, and one who may take the Egyptians to radical Islamic directions, or Ahmad Shafik who is secular, who served as the Prime Minister under Mubarak and is believed to be a man of the old reign.

According to the publications which streamed in over the last week, the battle was very close, on a fraction of a percentage. This result might probably cause the looser to declare that the election results were forged, since complaints of forges of whole ballots were received in the Egyptian election board.

The Moslem Brothers have already declared their victory over the last days, before the formal results were published, and have already announced – with a clear signal to the military junta which is in power at present – that they "know" that their candidate has won, and that any other result means a forge of the elections, and will cause another coupe d'état in the country.

The "brothers" are also angry about the decision of the military junta to carry out the instruction of the judicial court in the country to disperse the lower house of parliament, which was "conquered" during the last elections by their people.

Today (Sunday), the election committee in the country announced that it will formally announce the identity of the victor in the elections. Since the early hours of the morning, thousands from both camps gathered in many places all over Egypt, especially in the Tahrir square, anxiously awaiting the moment of declaration.

Many employers released their workers earlier so that they could watch the dramatic declaration.

After a nerve-wrecking wait, the election committee announced – Mohammed Morsi, candidate of the Moslem Brothers, is the president.

With the publication of the results, huge celebration burst out in the Tahrir square, in which, according to estimations, a million people are taking part, under heavy military supervision.
