The Lubavitcher Rebbe
A few days after it published the rating of the richest Rebbes and Rabbonim in Israel, Forbs Magazine publishes the rating of the most influential Rabbonim in Israel. "The richest group in Israel is not necessarily the most influential one," it says at the opening of the article.
At the first place comes the 92 year old Hagr"o Yosef – "undoubtedly, the most influential Rav in Israel, both politically and spiritually" the magazine writes.
Right after him, in second place, comes Hagry"s Eliashiv, "who is considered the most important Ashkenazi Posek of the generation. Harav Eliashiv reigns on the Hareidi public, and the most influential among the Litvak-Hareidi public". Most probably, the research for the article was done before the Rav became ill and was hospitalized in the Sha'arei Tzedek hospital.
Hagray"l Shteinman appears in the 3rd place of the rating list. It says about him: "He is marked as the successor of Harav Eliashiv".
In the 4th place, Hagr"c Kanievsky: "One of the most important Poskim in the Hareidi public".
In the 5th place out of the 20 places, there are two figures who have already passed away – Rabi Nachman Mi'Breslev and the Lubavitcher Rebbe zt"l, "who passed away years ago, but are idolized even by many secular people". According to the magazine, even after their death they are considered as having a very wide influence.
Straight after them appear Harav Shmuel Eliyahu, Harav Moti Eilon and Harav Shlomo Aviner.
The Gurrer and Belzer Rebbes appear in the 9th and 10th place accordingly. Two places after that, in the 12th place, appears the Viznitzer Rebbe, "who heads one of the most important and largest Chassidus in Israel and the world". The 13th place was taken by Harav Shlom Amar, the Chief Sephardi Rabbi, for the fact that "Many in Shas designate him the crown as successor of Hagr"o Yosef".
