Baruch Dayan Hae'mes: The bitter news about the passing away of the Rosh Yeshiva of Knesses Chizkiyahu in Rechasim, Hagaon R' Dovid Yitzchok Mann zt"l, was received from the Rambam hospital in Haifa.
Over the last years, Hagrd"y was sick with the terrible disease, and in all the Yeshivos and places of Torah prayers were said for his recovery. In his Yeshiva, Knesses Chizkiyahu, public prayers were held over the last few days, and the Mashgiach, Hagaon R' Dov Yaffe spurred the Talmidim on and begged them in tears to strengthen the learning of Torah and Mussar. But yesterday (Monday) the decree was cast, and the Rosh Yeshiva returned his soul to his Creator, at the age of only 67.
The Rosh Yeshiva zt"l was born in Eretz Yisroel on the 12th of Av, 5704 (1945) to his father Hagaon R' Mordechai Leib Mann zt"l, the Rosh Yeshiva of Beis Hillel, and a member of the Moetzes Gedolei Hatorah of Degel Hatorah, and his mother, Mrs. Miriam, the daughter of Hagaon R' Hillel Vitkind zt"l, Rosh Yeshivas Beis Yosef, Novardhok, in Tel Aviv.
Hagrd"y Mann zt"l learned in the Ponevez yeshiva, and was known as a tremendous Talmid Chochom. His lessons were famous, including the way he gave them over with excitement, devotion and Ritcha D'oraysa.
He composed many books, among them: Be'er Miriam, Yad Melech, Tehilla Le'Dovid, Di Be'er and Succas Dovid.
About a year ago he married off his daughter, with thousands of his Talmidim, alumni of the Yeshiva, participating in the Simcha.
His oldest son, Hagaon R' Yehoshua Mann will serve as his successor as Rosh Yeshiva.
He left behind his brothers: Harabonim Hagaonim R' Eliyahu, one of the Roshei Yeshiva of Ohr Yisroel, R' Avraham Yeshayahu, Rosh Yeshivas Tiferes Moshe, R' Moshe - Rosh Yeshivas Be'er Yitzchok in Telzstone, and R' Yosef, Rosh Yeshivas Divrei Mordechai; His wife, the Rebbetzin, תחי' who is the daughter of Hagaon R' Eliyahu Mishkovsky zt"l, and 13 children.
His sons-in-law: Harav Yaakov Farbstein, Dayan in the Beis Din of Hagr"n Karelitz, and Harav Chanoch Elbak.
His levaya left this morning (Tues.) at 11:00am from Yeshivas Knesses Chizkiyahu on its way to the cemetery of Rechasim, where he was buried.
May his soul be cherished for eternal life.
