Is the rally against the harms of technology, which took place before Shvuos in the stadium in Queens, NY, bringing about practical steps?
In an announcement which was hung up last week at the entrance to the kitchen of the Beis Midrash in Flatbush, Brooklyn, it said: "If you have a device by which you can browse the internet, in a way which is not controlled, or by means of connecting to Facebook and Twitter – you are forbidden to use the coffee, tea and other things in the kitchen".
In the B&H store, the largest store for photographing equipment in Manhattan owned by Satmer Chassidim, in which hundreds of workers are employed, the Hareidi workers - which form the majority of company employees – who have advanced cellular phones on behalf of the company, were offered to receive "kosher" phones instead.
One of the owners of the company was of those who worked behind the scenes during the organization for the rally, in order to help bring Rebbes and Rabbonim to the gathering.
According to members of the company, the exchanging of the phones of a large number of the workers "caused a great Kiddush Hashem among the rest of the store employees".
