The Chassidishe Rav: "The reason for the attack – Krias Shema not on time"

On Shabbos night, after Ma'ariv, there was silence at the Chassidish Beis Midrash "Divrei Chaim" in Golders Green, London.

Harav Hagaon Chaim Halperin, Rav of the Beis Midrash and the son of Hagaon R' Elchanan Halperin, wished to say a few words.

He talked of the terrible attack which took place this week in Toulouse, France, and asked of those present to get up early in the morning and to say Krias Shema on time.
Harav Halperin explained that in "Krias Shema" there are the letters of "Yishmael" and "Sar". "As soon as we are Makpid about saying Krias Shema on time and with Kavona, then Hashem will watch over us from Yishmael – i.e. from terrorists and evil doers."

To his words, "If we were more Makpid about the Mitzvah of Krias Shema on time, then most of the misfortunes would not befall us".

One of those present tells Behadrey Haredim that at the Divrei Chaim Beis Midrash, there is a special stringency about the Kedusha of Tefilla, such as the prohibition of talking during davening, which is kept most stringently by the Rav.
