Hundreds of Chareidi Kindergartens Operate in private Homes

The Sub-Committee for Planning and Building in Jerusalem convened this morning over issuing more alternative kindergarten permits for Chareidi kindergartens in Yerushalayim. The permits are required when a kindergarten is housed in a private home.
The sub-committee approved a number of new kindergarten-permits throughout the city, including in Neve Yaakov, Ramot, Bayt Vegan, and Bucharim, amongst other neighborhoods. The approvals are thanks to a storm raised by the Chariedi council members, and the involvement of Manon Merchav, CEO of the municipality.

Although the alternative permits were issued, this does not solve the problem of homeless kindergartens. The permits allow for a kindergarten to be in a private home, but that does not solve the real problem of a kindergarten with no building of its own.
The fact that there are two hundred kindergartens without a roof over their heads, and are forced to operate in private homes- aroused great frustration among the Chareidi representatives in today’s meeting.

Deputy Mayor Yitschok Pindrus, told “Bechadrei Chareidim” this morning, “Its shocking that in the year 2017 there are kindergartens in private homes”. Pindrus went on describe a much larger problem. “This explains why the city is requesting a loan to build an additional 1,000 classes -after so many years of neglect by the municipality and the department of education”.

Pindrus finished of by saying, “I hope that the treasury will approve the loan and the children will start seeing the light in the kindergartens”.
