Israel recently released the body of Fadi Al-Qunbar, the terrorist who perpetrated the gruesome ‘Armon Hanatsiv’ truck-attack, that took the lives of 4 IDF soldiers and injured over a dozen more.
Releasing his body for burial seems like the most human thing to do. Nobody is congratulating him for what he did, but isn’t he a person? Shouldn’t he be entitled to a proper respectable burial?
This seems like the right thing to do, the most humane way to act.
Actually not. It’s totally absurd.

Some elements of society are absolutely absurd to the point of engaging in self-destructive behavior.

We all understand that drugs and alcohol abuse are not only not productive, but are in fact also extremely detrimental to ourselves and to society as a whole.

When detrimental behavior takes place, people immediately intervene and stop it.
If that’s not possible, due to extreme circumstances, it is at least condemned in the harshest of terms by all sane members of society.
Even if the one perpetrating the reckless behavior claims that its humane and nice, and especially since it makes him feel good and respected. Any normal person will testify that his rational is not valid and should not be taken into consideration.
It does not matter- if it's a wrong then it is condemned and stopped, especially if the activity endangers the life’s of people around him.

A sore spot to the Unites States is the military prison of Guantanamo bay Cuba.
Inmates are being held there for years, some since the U.S. invaded Afghanistan 16 years ago, and they have never been officially sentenced.
The U.S. has labeled them enemy combatants, a new term invented to describe something that the world has not known in the past.
The concept that a person is dangerous to humanity, and although there is no evidence this man committed a crime, we all know that if he is released he will harm innocent people.
As uncomfortable as it is, and as bad as it looks, not to mention how unprogressive it appears, the U.S. government has no choice but to keep these evil people locked up for the safety of its own citizens.

Unfortunately, this concept of doing what’s right and necessary, even at the price of not being polite and politically correct, is well understood and accepted in the past examples, but not in the Mideast context.

Although this concept would be unanimously agreed upon and accepted if presented to any descent member of society. In reality, some people and even some government institutions don't operate according to this mantra.

In order to curb Arab violence against Jews in Israel, and to offer some form of deterrence against future would-be terrorists, Israeli security forces has advised the government, which readily agreed, not to release terrorists bodies for burial.
Since terrorists who murdered Jews are labeled Shahids, Martyrs, and are given a royal funeral by their communities, it provides a platform for recruitment and encouragement for the next terror attack.
Avoiding this great show of honor and respect to a terrorist, would offer some sort of deterrence to a society that values honor above almost all its other values.

Two weeks ago a Bedouin terrorist rammed his vehicle into a policeman, who was in the midst of carrying out a court eviction order on illegal built structures in the town of Um- el Charin, located in the Negev. Unfortunately the police officer Sgt. Erez Levi HY”D, 38 was brutally murdered in the terror attack.

As previously mentioned, the Israeli government recently announced that it would no longer be handing over bodies of terrorists for burial by their families. The policy has been suggested by security agencies, and is meant to deter future terrorist from carrying out attacks.

The family of the terrorist, petitioned the high court of justice, to have his body released of burial.
Sadly, the court yielded to the family’s request, and ordered that the body be given over to the family for burial.

If any future terrorist takes the Israeli governments word serious, something is wrong with him.

By releasing the terrorists body the state is demonstrating its total weakness, with absolutely no backbone to stand up to its word and policies even at the expense of protecting its citizens.
It’s clearly stating that out threats are meaningless and if you complain that “it’s not nice” we won’t carry it out.

What’s worse, the state allowed the high court of justice to interfere into matters of national security, the ramifications of which endanger lives.

Unfortunately, with this reckless behavior of capitulating to terrorist’s demand, deterrence to terror has suffered another setback.
