Hundreds of security forces raided the Shuafat refugee camp in northern Jerusalem last night. During the raid security forces searched for illegal weapons and arrested nine wanted terrorists who allegedly took part in unrests and other terror activities. The arrested terrorists were taken in for further interrogation by police.

Police and border patrol personnel that took part in the operation searched many buildings and came up with a lot of illegal weapons including knifes, clubs, air gun, and a blue light used by emergency vehicles.

This is the eighth such operation in Yerushalayim this year, and police are planning many more operations of this nature in other areas as well, in order to curtail and ultimately stop the illegal trafficking of weapons.

These kinds of operation also bring to the arrests of wanted individuals.
Yerushalayim police say these operations are part of the ongoing battle against crime and terror in the city. Taking these illegal weapons of the street prevents them from ending up in the hands of criminals and terrorists.

Direct results of these sophisticated operations can be felt on the street with a lower shooting rate in the northern part of the city where the Shuafat refugee camp is located.

These operations also lead to a more secure city for the residents and its visitors.
