The German parliament approved a resolution calling the mass killing of Armenians by the Ottoman Turks during WW I a "genocide".

According to Armenians up to 1.5 million of their people died at the hands of Truks in 1915. Turkey says that much fewer died and rejects the usage of the term "genocide". Turkey denies that is had a systematic campaign to wipe out the Armenians during WWI.

Even though the resolution also gave Germany some of the responsibility for the atrocities since it was an ally of the Turks at the time and didn't do anything to halt the genocide, Turkey is furious.

Turkey has recalled its ambassador and has threated further action.
President Erdogan said that recalling the ambassador was a first step and that the government is considering taking further action in response to the vote.
"We will do whatever is necessary to resolve this issue," he said.
