Seventeen people died when a fire broke out early Sunday morning, destroying a two story building in Kiev. The building was illegally housing about 35 elderly people.

Seventeen people died when a fire broke out early Sunday morning, destroying a two story building in Kiev. The building was illegally housing about 35 elderly people.
Rescue personnel managed to save the lives of 18 people, five of whom are currently hospitalized after suffering burns.
The director of the whom has been detained by police.
The Ukrainian media has reported that Prime Minister Vladimir Groisman said the fire was a, "terrible tragedy that has caused irreparable loss". He said that the government offered its sincere condolences to the families of the victims.
