Rabbi in Mezibush Attacked on Friday Night

Harav Y. G. who asked to remain anonymous shared his harrowing story with Bechadrey Charedim." After davening I went to my office and took out a sefer. A non-Jew asked the guard for permission to speak with me and I agreed.

"He came in, sat down and asked me if I had any work for him. I told him to come back after Shabbos. Apparently he did not like my answer. He began to scream and curse, took out a sharp scissors and began to cut off my beard and stab me. I jumped out of my chair and Baruch Hashem managed to pin him to the floor while calling for help. Members of the shul ran in and helped me tie up my attacker. We left him in the side room until the police came. The police interrogated him and then let him go.

"It was a real miracle. I was only lightly injured and it was a real nes that I managed to overpower him. I am so thankful that I was not alone in the shul at the time. He could have killed me.

"The police here is way too lax. They let him go after interrogating him for a few hours. He was not mentally stable. But we have bitachon (trust in G-d) and with His help we will increase security here. Next time someone want to come speak with me I will make sure to check more thoroughly into his background. This was almost a tragedy."
