Due to bureaucratic delays Harav Berland will not be returning to Israel this week.
Bechadrey Charedim was told that despite the fact that the Rabbi has already signed the extradition agreement he will not be returning this week, since the Minister of Justice has not yet signed the extraction papers.

Many of the Harav Berland's followers are concerned about his being extradited to Israel, out of fear that he will be belittled and humiliated by the process. In order to allay the concerns of his devoted followers Harav Berland has sent out letters and voice recordings assuring his followers that he is behind this initiative and it is being done with his full agreement.

The state of Israel under the auspices of the Minister of Justice Ayelet Shaked has authorized the extradition, with the mediation of Harav Yitzchak Dovid Grossman.

Additionally Israeli authorities have assured Rav Berland's supporters that they will treat him with the utmost respect, and that the Rabbi will not be returning to Israel in the same manner as a regular person who is being extradited.

Sources close to the Rabbi have told Bechadrey Charedim that," we hope it will proceed as planned and that the judges in Johannesburg will not make any sudden changes to the agreement.
