Uriel Heilman of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency wrote an interesting article comparing Jared Kushner and Marc Mezinsky, the Jewish sons in law of Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.
He quipped, "Somebody had better put a mezuzah on the Lincoln Bedroom." Since as he wrote, "Whoever ends up winning the election in November, one thing seems certain: For the first time in history, Jews will be in the president’s inner family circle."
Both Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton have daughters who married Jews, and of course Bernie Sanders himself is Jewish (but has daughter in law is not.
Surprisingly there are a number of similarities between Jared Kushner, husband of Ivanka Trump and Marc Mezvinsky who is married to Chelsa Clinton.
Jared Kushner is the 35 year old CEO of Kushner Properties, and the owner and publisher of The New York Observer.
Marc Mezvinsky is a 38 year old investment banker and co-founder of hedge fund Eaglevale Partners.
Jared Kushner attended Frish, a modern Orthodox high school in Paramus New Jersey. He received his B.A. from Harvard, where he studied sociology and his MBA from New York University.
Marc Mezvinsky attended high school at Friends Central in a suburb of Philadelphia. He studied religion and philosophy at Stanford where and then went on to receive a M.A. in international relations from the Univeristy of Oxford, England.
Kushner belongs to Manhattan's Kehilath Jeshurun, which is an Orthodox shul. He observes Shabbas, Kashrus and is raising his children as Jews.
As a child Mezvinsky attended a Conservative Synagogue and has occasionally been seen in shul with his wife Chelsea Clinton. The couple is raising their daughter with both Jewish and Methodist traditions.
Both couples live in Manhattan. The Kushners live in a 10 room apartment on Manhattan's Upper East Side on Trump Park Avenue.
The Mezvinskys live in Manhattan's Flatiron district on 26th street.
While Mezvinsky appears at non-political events with the Clintons, he has no known involvement with his mother in law's campaign.
Kushner helped draft his father in law's AIPAC speech and also advises the presumptive Republican nominee on issues involving Israel. He is involved in assembling his White House transition team. Kushner's newspaper endorsed Trump for president.
