Before the meeting head of the Vaad Hayeshivos, Harav Chaim Aharon Kaufman met with Harav Shteinman. Both Harav Shteinman and Harav Nissim Karelitz sent letters to the Vaad.
Present at the meeting were, Harav finkel, harav Landau, Harav Ezrachi, Harav Badani, Harav Shlezinger, Harav Farbstein, Harav Alter, Harav Weiss, Harav Soloveitchik, Harav Menachem Ernster Rosh Yeshivas Vishnitz, Harav Barzovsky Rosh Yeshivas Slonim, and Harav Halberstam, son of the Admor of Tzanz.
Harav Gershon Edelstein, Nasi of the Vaad opened the meeting with a call to all the Roshei Yeshiva, "to put forth great effort in order to prevent expelling any bachur."
He then asked all outsiders to leave the room so the members of the Vaad could discuss sensitive subjects.
One of the decisions written on the publicized list of decisions was, "not to give a deferment to any bachur who was not occupying himself with Torah learning."
