Expansion of Shaare Zedek Hospital

Jerusalem residents will be happy to hear that the Local Planning and Building Committee of the Jerusalem Municipality has approved the expansion of the Shaare Zedek Medical Center: adding three new buildings, parking lots, and a pedestrian walkway-entrance.

The program is the first stage of the expansion of the hospital, and is intended to be realized during the coming 20-25 years.

The hospital currently includes some 100 thousand square meters of built-up area. The plan proposes the addition of approximately 300 thousand square meters to create a medical center of 400 thousand sq. meters to include medical facilities, a commercial area to serve patients and visitors and parking areas for staff and visitors.

In addition, the plan includes three new buildings on the front of the lot as well as spaces for open public areas in the hospital grounds.

The program was accompanied by an environmental inspection and survey coordinated with the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Environmental Unit of the Municipality.

Shaare Zedek has long been a favorite of religious Jerusalem residents for its heimish atmosphere as well as cutting-edge care.
