Last Monday a 26 year old driver was fined 1000 NIS for talking on a phone while driving. When Chaim begged the police officer not to give him such a large fine, claiming that he was unable to pay for it. The policeman was unmoved. After receiving the ticket Chaim told the policeman, "G-d will pay you."
In an interview with Bechadrey Charedim Chaim said that from that moment and on the police man became enraged and abusive. He reached for his weapon and began exiting his vehicle. Chaim became very frightened and ran.
"I didn't know what he was going to do to me. It was very scary. I ran a few meters away from him and he began chasing after me. When I realized that I would not be able to outrun him I backtracked and said," You have already given me a large fine- what more do you want from me?"
"He began to curse me. He grabbed me and dragged me while cursing me. He pushed me to the ground and sat on my back. Then another policeman came and motioned to him to calm down. He continued sitting on me, cursed me and arrested me.
"I was taken to the police station for questioning. At the end of the investigation I heard the investigator speaking to the captain and the captain saying, "I can't arrest him- he didn't do anything."
Chaim has suffered from back pain since the event.
Once he received the video of the police brutality he experienced he went down to the the department of police investigations to lodge a complaint.
He hopes that this time this policeman will be found guilty, as Chaim has learned this is not his first offense.
