Babies Cry: Passenegers Cheer
Anyone who has ever flown overseas with small children knows how challenging it could be. Overtired infants and tots are often irritable and difficult to deal with, leaving embarrassed parents frustrated over their inability to keep their little ones quiet. In honor of Mother's Day JetBlue documented a historic occurrence- passengers cheering every time a baby cried aboard a flight from New York to California.

Adweek covered JetBlues' creative Mother's Day stunt. "How JetBlue Achieved the Impossible: Getting Passengers to Love It When Babies Cry, A glare- free Mother's Day stunt MullenLowe ."
David Griner echoes the sentiments of many of us Transatlantic fliers when he says, "The only thing worse than sitting next to a crying baby on a long flight is being the parent holding the crying baby. You know you're responsible for everyone else's misery, and there's often very little you can do to fix it. "
JetBlue and MullenLowe turned this frustration around by rewarding passengers when babies on board cried. The "FlyBabies" stunt gave passengers traveling from JFK to Long Beach California a 25% discount every time a baby cried. If four babies cried passengers would be entitled to a round trip ticket for their next JetBlue flight.
After a stewardess aboard the flight announced the terms of deal, the attitudes of passengers aboard the flight radically changed. Fussy babies were no longer seen as a nuisance- instead they became a cause for celebration as passengers actively cheered the kvetchy babies on.
