Almost Half of the World's Jews Currently Live in Israel
The population of Israel has increased dramatically in recent years.

Israel is currently home to 43% of the world's Jews.
The population of the State of Israel currently numbers some 8.522 million, up from just 806,000 in 1948.
Jews make up 74.8 % of the population numbering some 6.377 million.
Another 20.8% of Israeli's are Arabs (1.771 million people), and the remaining group of citizens composed of Christians and non- Arabs makes up the remaining 4.4% (374,000 people).
The population of Israel has increased by 2.2% over the last year (182,000 people).
During the last year 195,000 babies were born and 47,000 people died. An additional 36,000 individuals made aliyah.
Currently a full 75% of the Israeli population were born here compared to just 35% in 1948.
In 1948 Israel had only one city that numbered over 100,000 residents; Tel-Aviv-Yaffo.
Today there are 14 cities with populations over 100,000, 8 of which have more than 200,000 residents. These include: Tel-Aviv- Yaffo, Chaifa, Rishon Lezion, Petach Tikvah, Ashdod, Netanya and Be'er Sheva.
