Huge Shipment of Ammonium Chloride Intercepted

It has been released for publication that Customs officials at the Nitzana border crossing along with the General Security Services found 4 tons of ammonium chloride hidden in a shipment of salt. Ammonium chloride can be used to make hundreds of long-range missiles.
About a week before Pesach, a shipment of salt arrived at Nitzana which serves as a place for transfer of shipments between Egypt, Israel and the Palestinian Authority. The shipment was earmarked for Gaza. An in-depth inspection by customs authorities found suspicious findings among the bags of salt: bags containing 4 tons of ammonium chloride. Such material requires a special permit to be shipped to the Gaza Strip since it can be used by terror organizations such as Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad to manufacture long-range missiles. The Customs authorities had been alerted by the General Security Services that the very frequent large salt shipments could be a guise for smuggling chemicals to the Strip for various nefarious purposes such as rocket manufacture.
