The IDF released photos Monday of the recently discovered tunnel on the border of Gaza and Israel. The tunnel was uncovered last week near the Chulit settlement in the Eshkol Region. This is a new tunnel, built after the Israel’s military campaign in Gaza in the summer of 2014. The tunnel was revealed using the technology employed by the IDF as well as information known to the Shin Bet.
According to the IDF this tunnel originates deep inside Gaza and leads to land that is near the border, a great distance away from the homes in Gaza. Unlike the other tunnels that in the past were discovered by farmers, this tunnel was uncovered by engineers working in the area.
The Chief of Staff Gadi Eizenkot said Monday,” The IDF has made the issue of the tunnels its top priority and will continue using all the means at its disposal to remove this threat.”
