The IDF’s Protocols are a Joke.
Dror Zicherman, a soldier who was seriously wounded while “following the rules” and didn’t shoot a terrorist - posted a scathing letter on Facebook that is making waves. The story of the soldier who was arrested for eliminating a neutralized terrorist is still making waves.

Last night (motzaei Shabbos) Dror Zicherman, who was seriously wounded when serving in the army 10 years ago posted a statement of Facebook that went viral within a matter of hours.
“Ok, I have to get something off my chest that has been bothering me since I heard about the soldier who was arrested after being videoed shooting a neutralized terrorist who had tried to kill him. Before I begin I would like to point out that some of the things that I will write in this post I have only shared Bwith a few selected people until now- and it isn’t easy for me to share this- but I will anyway.
Back in December of 2005 I was on duty in Tul Karem. We were tipped off about an intended terror attack. We were supposed to be inspecting vehicles leaving Tul Karem. We were told that our suspect was born in the year 1976. We inspected many cars and then came a Palestinian taxi carrying 8 people. I collected their identity cards- one of them was born in ’76. We told them to get out of the car so that we could check them individually. The first 3 were clean of ammunition. Then came the 4th. It was a hot day and he was wearing a leather coat. I immediately aimed my weapon at his head and my commander told me not shoot.
He told the terrorist in Ivrit to lift his shirt and the man didn’t respond, as if he didn’t understand. I was itching to pull the trigger. My commander told me again not to shoot. He yelled at the terrorist in Arabic to lift his shirt. He made a motion as if he was going to lift his shirt- but instead he pressed the detonator, instantly killing both him and my commander.
We followed regulations- against my better judgment and we paid a heavy price. My commander paid with his life- and I paid with my health.
Every night I relive this scene again.
So why am I sharing this? Because I am sick and tired of what is going on in this country the last few months. Soldiers are faced with this dilemma daily- to shoot or not. And every day the media judges them anew. And it all becomes very political…
The army’s regulations are a joke- a very bad joke. Go ahead tell me that our army is very humanitarian-but remember that because of that my commander Uri is no longer here and I was left seriously wounded and shell shocked. Maybe it’s better to be considered a murderer then to be shell shocked.
If you ask me that soldier is a hero- he killed a terrorist and prevented him from killing innocents in the future.
