This morning’s terror attacks in Brussels have caused a lot of fear among Belgian Jewry. What will be with Purim?

Harav Gigi: “Everyone is Terrified. Purim Concert May be Canceled”

Harav Avraham Gigi, Rabbi of Belgium and a representative in the Conference of European Rabbis said,” We are very nervous. We have no idea what tomorrow will bring.”
“Belgiums’ security services have instructed everyone to remain at home and to keep off the streets”, says the Rabbi. From reports that I have heard there are 13 dead at the airport, and another 10 at Maelbeek metro station. “
The Rabbi relates that at the time of the explosion they were hosting non Jewish students at the Great Synagogue. “They were frightened. Our regular security officers calmed us down. We were planning a Purim party and concert for tomorrow. I do not yet know it we will go with our plans. I will be receiving guidelines from the security services and will follow their suggestions.”
The rabbi sends condolences on behalf of the Jewish community to those who have lost family members. “May G-d have mercy on Europe”, he said.
