The minister of internal security, MK Gilad Erdan, was present yesterday at ZAKA Petach Tikva’s 7th of Adar gathering. Erdan said as part of his speech,” I told the police department to carry out additional adjustments for the charedi community, in order to make their adjustment into the police force as productive as possible.”
He also added,” I am interested in seeing many charedim in the police- working at a full salary.”
During his speech he expressed his great admiration for ZAKA’s volunteers in the name of the Israeli government, and shared that the ministry of internal security has doubled their financial assistance to ZAKA in the past year.
He continued,” ZAKA and its volunteers deserve this honor that we are giving them tonight with out presence. Yakov Avinu asked Yosef his son to do with him chesed she emes and not bury him in Mitztrayim. Chessed done with the dead is called chesed shel emes, it is true chessed for it is done without any expectation of remuneration. “
He pointed out that over time ZAKA has widened their range of services, today their volunteers also are involved in providing first aid. Some of their volunteers are also volunteer police who work alongside the forensics department in cases of unnatural death, in helping to locate missing persons-including under water, and in other areas.”
Erdan mentioned the work of 9 charedi women who work as investigators in the police department and save children as a successful example of charedim in the police force. “We would like to see the inclusion of Charedim in the general community stabilize and deepen. You, who work alongside police investigators with such great cooperation are well aware of the devotion the police show on a daily basis.”
