The Masmid from Bnei Brak: Hagoan Rav Yakov Shmuel Sheinelzon tz”l.

Baruch Dayan Haemes: Last night Hagaon Rav Refael Yakov Shmuel Sheinelzon tz”l from Beni Brak, one of the heads of Kollel Chazon Ish and one of the greatest Talmedai Chachamim in Bnei Brak . He was 68 years old.
Harav Sheinelzon learned last night as he did every night and when he went to bed for the night he suffered a cardiac arrest and returned his soul to his Maker.
Hagoan Rav Yakov Shmuel was born on the 26th of Teves to his parents Rav Yitzchak Eizek and Rivka Shenelzon. After learning in the Slobodka Yeshiva of Beni Brak where he was beloved by his Rabanim, he married his wife Malka t’chye,daughter of Hagoan Rav Yehuda Shapiro tz”l- Rosh Kollel Chazon Ish.

After his wedding he continued to learn with great hasmada without stop. Due to his great genius and intelligence he was considered one of the greatest Talmeidai Chachamin in Bnei Brak. He authored the sefer “Sharei Halacha” on the halachos of Ribis.

A few years ago he was ill and in danger. Gedolei Yisrael added the name Refael, and Baruch Hashem he recovered.

He left behind 12 children as well as grandchildren continuing in his path. His son in the attorney Chezi Sheinelzon.

They are sitting shiva at at his home Rechov Ezra 54, Bnei Brak.
