At the Hamusachim junction in Nazareth, a policeman was run over tonight (Sunday) and seriously injured. The offending vehicle fled the scene and searches were held to locate the driver, until he turned himself in. The background remains unclear.
The accident occurred at about 19:20, and it remains unclear what exactly happened there. Preliminary specifications show that a police officer who was in at the end of Hamusachim street in Nazareth, signaled to the car to stop.

A private vehicle coming from the direction of Afula to Nazareth hit the policeman powerfully and fled the scene. Checkpoints have been set up in the region, and it remains unclear what the nature of the event was. Large police forces were on the scene to locate the vehicle driver, until he turned himself in.
The officer was taken to Nazareth English Hospital with head injuries and fractures when he was anesthetized and on a respirator. From there, he was taken to the trauma room at Rambam Hospital in Haifa where he is still undergoing tests and in serious condition.
A suspect of the overriding is at the police station at Nazareth, and is being investigated.
