Watch: Rechnitz, Shwekey and aircraft fulfilled a dream

Shlomo Rechnitz and singer Yaakov Shwekey fulfilled the dream of a young patient. The private plane of philanthropist Shlomo Yehuda Rechnitz landed unexpectedly yesterday in Israel, carrying on board Rechnitz, singer Yaakov Shwekey, medical staff and Leibi Haim, a disabled yeshiva bochur.

The ill yeshiva bochur with a degenerative disease had a dream to visit Israel. Leibi, who is studying at Yeshivat Ma'ayan HaTorah for special children, said that he told his teacher and he decided to pursue his dream.

He issued a statement telling about Leibi and his dream of visiting Israel, to be blessed with Rebbes and Gedolei Torah and visit the Western Wall.

Rechnitz read the ad and decided to get to work. He made available to the young boy and his companions a private plane, after Leibi's doctors gave their approval for the long journey.

The journey was accompanied by a skilled medical team and with the help of chessed and medical activists in Lakewood, he also obtained medical supplies needed for the journey.

The flight was set to leave from Lakewood on Sunday afternoon. Leibi was full of joy and excitement, but it turned out on Friday that his passport was not valid.

The wife of singer Yaakov Shwekey who established a patient advocacy organization in Lakewood enlisted to the project, she hurried to phone the local functionaries and Rechnitz, who ordered to turn to the veteran activist, Zvi Gluck.

It turned out that Gluck is staying in Poland and desperate attempts to contact the aid of other activists failed. The dream is almost gone, but on Motzaei Shabbos Shwekey got a phone call from Rabbi Gluck who promised to do all he can to help.

Indeed, on Sunday afternoon, four hours before the scheduled flight time, the passport arrived, and the group set off. The young man will remain in the country for a week.
