Israel wakes up to fight BDS

Following a storm of hatred against Israel and ads in London: Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu instructed the Foreign Ministry Director Dorie Gold to demand immediate removal of the ads. Minister Erdan will assign standards for BDS struggle coordinators in the Foreign Ministry.

Campaign posters were hung as part of "Israeli Apartheid Week", in which Israel was presented as an apartheid state. Among other things, they argued that since October, 142 Palestinians were killed by Israel and more than 15 thousand injured. The ad refers of course to the terrorists who attempted to kill Israelis, but this was not specified.

Another ad accused the international security company G4S for collaboration with apartheid, as it claimed its guards are employed in Israeli prisons. "Every year more than 500 children are held in the company's prisons without trial".

Following the hanging of signs of hate on the London Underground, Minister of Strategic Affairs and Internal Security Gilad Erdan, will allocate 10 standards for BDS coordinators in main Israeli embassies around the world.

As part of their duties, the coordinators will follow the BDS threats and fight them in conjunction with Jewish communities and the local pro-Israeli organizations.

Prime Minister Netanyahu addressed the issue also at the start of a Likud faction meeting and said: "I spoke earlier with Dorie Gold in London and asked him to turn to the British government and require the removal of the leaflets and graffiti against the state of Israel. Those who claim that we are not working – is not telling the truth. We are working on all fronts against incitement".

Chairman of Yesh Atid Yair Lapid was the first to act on the matter and said that he turned to the London mayor. "I explained to him that Israel will not tolerate these things and we are asking him to intervene," he said. Johnson told him that the posters were hung without the approval and the municipality is removing them.
