The Eizenkott storm: the Jewish majority does not support the words of the Chief of Staff, according to a survey by Channel 10.

Against the background of the storm caused by the "scissors speech" of Gadi Eizenkot, a Channel 10 new poll shows that 57% of the Jewish public does not agree with his words.

As recalled, last Wednesday, the Chief of Staff Gadi Eizenkot spoke to high school students in Bat Yam, and referred to the current wave of violence and the army's dealing with the threats and said: "There were places that a 13-year-old girl was holding a scissors or a knife, and there was a barricade between her and soldiers. I would not want a soldier to open fire and empty a cartridge on such a girl, even if she is doing something very serious, but would use the power needed for the task."

Minister of the Interior the Periphery and the Galilee Aryeh Deri added on Twitter: "I see the chief of staff Eisenkott at cabinet meetings and in closed forums: he's an excellent Chief of Staff, honest, brave, commander of the army with a firm hand. Do not fear".

Now it turns out that most of the public does not agree with the chief of staff. The survey was conducted under the supervision of Professor Kamil Fuchs, by "Sample Project" company under the direction of Dr. Ariel Ayalon in the Jewish population, and by the company "Stat-Net" directed by Yosef Makledah in the Arab population.

According to the results, 57% of the Jewish population surveyed said that it does not support the words of the chief of staff, while 43% said they do support his words. However, when generalizing the answers of the Arab public, 53% said that they support the words of Eizenkot, compared to 47 % who said the opposite.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu voiced his support for the chief of staff and said: "Last week there was a debate over remarks made by the Chief of Staff. It was futile," Netanyahu said at a cabinet meeting.

"The chief of staff said the obvious, and therefore the Israel Defense Forces act this way. All the things said afterwards were made for lack of understanding, or a desire for political debate. Both of these are unacceptable, and we should move on."
