Towards Reconciliation: Turkish President Rejep Tayyip Erdogan hosted a delegation of 20 American Jewish leaders in his palace in Ankara, headed by a close associate of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Chairman of the Committee of Presidents of Major Jewish Organizations, Malcolm Hoenlein.
Hoenlein is making his way to Jerusalem to convene at the Conference of Presidents and on the way he stopped to visit Ankara. Tomorrow he will meet with Prime Minister Netanyahu.
Netanyahu was asked about the meeting and said: "Malcolm met with many leaders. I'd love to hear what the Turks have to say to him. We aspire for normalization with all our neighbors, but it is always a two-way process".
The President's Office reported on the meeting with Jewish leaders and released pictures of the meeting.
Analysts consider the visit a part of the thawing of relations between Israel and the Islamic country and reconciliation efforts between the two countries.
Tomorrow morning negotiating teams of Israel and Turkey will hold a meeting in Geneva to complete a tract between the parties. The negotiations are directed by head of Mossad Yossi Cohen, who started them when he was still the national security adviser.
Most of the disputes relating to the issues between the countries themselves, have been resolved. But what remains in dispute are issues relating the Palestinians.
Israel is demanding that Turkey, stops hosting Hamas representatives in Turkey, which in turn demands that Israel lift the blockade off Gaza.
