In a ceremony which was held last week at the headquarters of the regional brigade "Benjamin", certificates of merit were awarded to Haredi soldiers of "Netzah Yehudah" battalion of the Kfir Brigade, who blocked and neutralized several attacks in recent months in the area.
At the same time it was announced that the battalion was chosen as best battalion of the Kfir Brigade for last January which was very busy in terms of security activity in the present wave of terror in Israel.
At the ceremony, which was attended by commanders and soldiers' families, certificates of merit were awarded to soldiers of the regiment that foiled in recent months a number of attacks in the area, including three victims of the motor vehicle collision at a checkpoint at the entrance to the settlement of Ofra and attack in the Romema neighborhood of Jerusalem - neutralized by a soldier of the battalion, an action which earned him even a certificate of appreciation from the chief of Jerusalem district police. At the ceremony, the regional brigade commander of "Benjamin", Col. Israel Shumar spoke, and congratulated the soldiers on their courage, while commending their families for educating boys who are willing to give their lives in defense of the citizens of Israel.
As part of an internal report conducted at the headquarters of Kfir Brigade, initiated by the brigade commander Col. Guy Hazut, the battalion won praise. The report measured the brigade's battalions on a number of different operational measures over several months, in this framework, the battalion reached the highest scores and was elected, as above, as the excelling brigade.
In recent months, Netzah Yehuda battalion is stationed in the north Benjamin and settlements of Shilo, a section where a large number of attacks occurred in the last wave of terrorism, including the attacks which killed Danny Gonen and Malachi Rosenfeld that occurred at the beginning of the terror wave. During this time the battalion thwarted and neutralized multiple vehicle, shooting and stabbing attacks. Last December soldiers of Netzah Yehuda Battalion thwarted five attacks in North Benjamin, three attacks and two stabbings. In addition, soldiers disarmed five more terrorists who acted under guise of the disturbances which occurred in the area.
This excellence award joins an impressive list of awards which the battalion received in recent years. Among other things, the battalion received the chief of staff award, head of Logistics and Technology Directorate award, GOC Army Headquarters Award (GFC), and the prize of the headquarters of paratrooper and infantry. The reserve battalion of the regiment was also awarded the President's Award last year.
Rabbi Zvi Klebenao, president and founder of the Netzah Yehuda association of the Nahal Haredi, notes that "the courage and hard work of the officers and soldiers of the regiment, is reflected in each sector in which it is placed. With the help of Heaven, the battalion soldiers work around the clock to maintain the daily routine in the civil sector and I am pleased to see the hard work is also reflected in the success of the soldiers who reach significant achievements which are highly appreciated among commanders. We will continue to stand firm in the face of threats swarming around us, while maintaining the path and the values of the Torah of Israel, on which the soldiers insist at all times."
