After about 48 hours, Hamas acknowledged: "We have lost contact with fighters of the tunnel which collapsed apparently as a result of the weather."

On Tuesday evening, a tunnel collapsed in the northern Gaza suburb of Tuffah, apparently as a result of bad weather. A report on 'Quds Net' revealed that seven activists were killed, and four others are listed as missing. The website Wooten 24, affiliated with Fatah, reported that nine activists were killed, and some names have been published. Today (Wednesday) in Gaza, media reported that eight Hamas members are absent due to the collapse of an offensive tunnel in northern Gaza.

However, contrary to these reports, the Palestinian Health Ministry denied that the bodies were taken to the hospital. Moreover, Hamas officials have tried as much as possible to minimize the incident, and maintained secrecy when it came to the subject. It was also reported that Hamas had transferred the bodies to the new structure of the hospital Wafa and the Islamic University in Gaza.

Tonight, the Hamas military wing for the first time addressed the issue which was not discussed until now, and announced that they lost contact with the tunnel excavator cell Mujahdeen of Hamas in a tunnel which collapsed due to the weather. According to the announcement, the search continues and there is a glimmer of hope regarding their fate.
