Obama against anti-Semitism: President Barack Obama delivered tonight (Thursday) a speech at an event marking International Holocaust Remembrance Day which was held at the Israeli Embassy in Washington and said: "We must fight anti-Semitism, we are all Jews".

In his speech, he mentioned his uncle who freed the Buchenwald concentration camp, "my grandmother told me," he said, "that my uncle returned from the war and for six months he could not speak from the shock of the horrors he saw there, he was never the same. I myself went there with my family.

The president further added: "Anti-Semitism is on an upsurge, we cannot deny it, we see Jews who left Europe after living there for many years, we are also seeing Jewish centers which are under attack from Mumbai to Kansas. There are swastikas painted on campuses and Jews are attacked anywhere just because they are Jews.

"We must respond to this situation," he added, "as if we are all Jews. We all have to do everything possible against this. We have a responsibility and I will do everything to ensure that the United States will lead the fight against anti-Semitism".

Obama also took the opportunity and referred to the relationship between the US and Israel, "There are voices in the world against Israel, and there are voices who question its right to exist. Israel is under terrorist attacks, and we stand beside Israel."
