For the first time since he was released, the Israeli spy Jonathan Pollard will meet with Jewish leaders, according to a report published today (Thursday), by the American Jewish newspaper "Forward".
According to the report Pollard is expected to meet with leaders of the Conference of Presidents of major Jewish American organizations, led by Malcolm Hoenlein, and it is estimated that the meeting was intended to help him in the fight to alleviate his conditions of release.
Others who will attend the meeting, are members of the US House of Representatives Jerry Nadler and Eliot Engel, who worked for his release.
Pollard was released under severe restrictions, and he turned to court to alleviate them.
During the last hearing in court, documents of Pollard's hearing in prison before his release that have not yet been posted, were submitted.
Among other things, it was published that he said 'I learned a lesson and that he "does not want to go back to jail." When he was apprised before his liberation of the limitations that would prevent him of departure from the United States, he said that "he has no such intention."
